About MJP at the Shepherds
We’re fortunate to have excellent restaurants in Cambridge. MJP at the Shepherds is one of them. The Ancient Shepherds in Fen Ditton is only a stone’s throw away from Cambridge city centre. On a sunny day, it’s a beautiful walk along the River Cam from the historic centre. A good way to build up an appetite!
The Chef-owner, Mark Poynton, changes the menu regularly, especially now as he’s developing the menu for his soon-to-open restaurant at Caistor Hall Hotel close to Norwich.

MJP at Caistor Hall Hotel
Mark Poynton is excited to announce that he will open his second restaurant at Caistor Hall Hotel in February 2023. This stunning venue was built between 1795 and 1797 in the time of King George III by the Dashwood family. The actual site can be traced back even further to before the Norman Conquest and originally belonged to the Abbey at Bury St Edmunds until it was confiscated during the dissolution of the monasteries.
