Amelie celebrates Runner Up Best Value Eats

Regis and his son Alex Crepy are thrilled that Amelie Restaurant is runner up for Best Value Eats in this year’s Observer Food Monthly Awards as voted by their readers.

Alex Crepy said: “A massive thank you to everyone who voted for us. We are so proud to have received this Best Value Eats Award. The last time these Awards were held in 2019, we were lucky enough to be runner up then too, and it’s extremely humbling to know that after these roller coaster years we’ve all had, we are still making people happy with good simple food.”

What is Flam-kuche?

This dish which they rechristened Flam-kuche for ease of pronunciation, may look like skinny pizza but tastes quite different – it’s ultra-thin, light and yeast-free dough is spread with crème fraiche and a delicious combination of toppings and then cooked at a high heat in minutes until crispy, fresh and mega tasty!

But there is more than just skinny pizza

There’s a tempting choice of Flam-kuche on the Amelie menu such as the authentic with sliced onions, smoked bacon, gruyere cheese; goats’ cheese & beetroot with pine nuts & honey; pulled pork and hoisin.  Customers can also enjoy a selection of contemporary salads and small plates created by Regis that are full of flavour as he skillfully shows off the quality produce he sources – pulled beef brisket in a French bun with horseradish mayo, couscous salad with feta, chickpeas and chilli and cheese cushions.

Chez Amelie at the Cookery School

The Crepys have also introduced their signature Flam-kuche to Chez Amelie at the Cambridge Cookery School & Café where they have recently taken residency.  Brunch favourites, large salads inspired by French and Middle Eastern cuisines as well as patisserie and sweet treats are also on the menu.

Opening times

Amelie is open daily from 11.30am at The Grafton, Cambridge CB1 1PS

Chez Amelie is open Wednesday – Sunday 9am-2pm at the Cambridge Cookery School, Purbeck Road CB2 8EB
