Cambridge-based contemporary oil painter Hatty Richmond Dakin returns to Huntingdon Art Gallery with this exhibition of expressive landscapes, alongside soulful portraits.
The portraits include two from her ‘Readers’ series which beautifully capture her sitters while un-self-consciously absorbed in the world of their literature.
Hatty’s landscapes are packed with the feeling as much as the view of a place. Her expressive use of paint which in turn smooths, scuffs and scours the surface evokes the movement of water and wind while carving out the features of coastlines and fens.
