Adelia’s Norfolk Street Bakery

A local gem was revived in 2012 – One of my favourite walkabouts on a lazy Sunday is via Norfolk street through the cemetery to the hustle and bustle of one of the most cosmopolitan areas in Cambridge, Mill Road.

Adelia took over Norfolk Street bakery in 2012 after it had been shut for many years. She hails from Portugal and is not only an excellent baker, but she makes sure that Cambridge get’s its Pastel del Natte fix and other delicious Portuguese delicacies.

The first artisan bakery in Cambridge for a long time

When I popped into Adilia’s for the first time around 4 pm, a big plate with Pastel del Natte was put out, and it was gone within seconds! Clearly popular with the mothers doing the school run that day. The year 2012 was undoubtedly the time when things started to change in Cambridge. I started with the food walking tours, Norfolk Street bakery, the first Artisan bakery, Steak & Honour, Jack Gelato and The Cambridge Gin Company all started their businesses too.

Adelia’s bakes have been so successful over the years that she opened a second shop on Station Road, where she has a lovely cafe too. Both shops are open 6 days per week from 7 pm.
