Valentine’s day in Cambridge

Not just for one day or for couples

It’s almost Valentine’s day! So love must be in the air. Is showing love only for one day and for couples? About romantic dinners, sexy little numbers or expensive gifts?

Not at all! Showing love is something a lot more precious than presents. It’s about spending time with our loved ones, the one thing we all were deprived of the last two years. So let’s celebrate this year’s Valentine’s day by meeting up with our loved ones.

It could be as simple as visiting them for a cup of tea with a delicious cake or putting a smile on their face with a hand-tied bouquet.

Cambridge’s Chocolate Festival

After a well-deserved sleep-in, meet up with your loved one(s) and head out to Histon. Riad Falvo of Bumble and Oak has organised the first-ever Cambridge Chocolate Festival at the Smoke House in Histon for this Valentine’s weekend.

On Friday, February 11th, the festival kicks off with chocolate-themed cocktails created with panache by Pawel at Histon Smokehouse and continues over Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th.

Chocolate inspired brunch at the Smoke House in Histon

Saturday Brunch and Chocolate

The Histon Smoke House will be serving up a Brunch menu featuring a savoury chocolate dish this weekend. This savoury and slightly spicy chocolate sauce molé is inspired by the birthplace of cocoa.

After Brunch, it is time to delve into the delights of the Chocolate Festival. Before heading off to your next destination, you might want to be tempted to have another Valentines cocktail and a bite to eat at the Smoke House.

Vivaldi by Candle Light at Ely

Your next stop is Ely for Vivaldi by candlelight. Ely Cathedral will be welcoming the outstanding musicians of The Piccadilly Sinfonietta on the evening of Saturday, February 12th.

This sensational candlelight evening will be one to remember! It will be a spectacular concert by candlelight with a programme by the monumental baroque composer Antonio Vivaldi. Featuring the timeless classic ‘The Four Seasons’, two concertos and the exquisite work for Soprano and chamber orchestra” Nulla in Mundo Pax Sincera’.

Swanky cocktails in Cambridge

If you’re heading back to Cambridge after the concert and are keen to extend the evening, then I can highly recommend one of the swanky cocktail bars in the city centre for a perfect end of the day.
