Cambridge is a must-visit at any time of the year. English summers in our city are particularly stunning when you can enjoy picnics, relax on a punt in the sunshine and listen to the fine tunes of Jazz in the Parks. Here are the top 6 Quintessentially Cambridge things to do this summer.

An afternoon of Jazz in the park

Listen to the tunes of Jazz by the local band Duxford Saturday Workshop Jazz Band at Wandleburry Park. Steeped in myth and legend set on the remains of a circular Iron Age Hillfort on the Gog Magog Hills. This beautiful countryside estate offers miles of beautiful walks through woodland and wildflower meadows grazed by Highland Cattle. A perfect setting for a picnic.

Bring your picnic or visit their pop-up cafe providing refreshments for the event. The event is hosted in the beautiful paddock of the manor house at Wandlebury and your ticket includes free parking.

Jazz in the Park is an event to raise funds for local charity CambridgePPF. All funds generated will help them to care for Wandlebury Country Park and other unique places around Cambridge.

Details: Sunday 8 August from 3pm-5pm. Please arrive early to get seated. The band will play two sets with an interlude.

Experience the magic of Enchanted Cinema

Join Enchanted Cinema for an evening of magic

One of the highlights of Cambridge’s summer is the return of the open-air screenings of Enchanted Cinema. The team behind these magical experiences are the experts in creating a truly magnificent evening at unique locations in Cambridge. This year they’re back again at the Secret Garden at the Gonville Hotel. Their brand new location this year is at the meadows on the River Cam at the Plough in Fen Ditton.

Before every film, a local musician plays for the audience, followed by an independent short. It’s all about local at Enchanted Cinema, so street food vendors will pop up alongside the cinema! Film, food and music, all in beautiful settings – What’s not to love.

Enjoy the summer and quintessentially Cambridge!

Cambridge is the perfect destination for a staycation. My tip is to stay longer as there is so much to see and do that only one day doesn’t feel long enough.
